Brickworks Living Building Challenge

“The Gathering” was KPA’s entry into the Brickworks Living Building Challenge design competition for a retail centre.

In order to meet the Living Building Institute’s criteria, KPA’s response was to create a central gathering space focusing on place, beauty, health and materials which drew inspiration from the former brickworks on the site. Sustainable technologies were explored and integrated into the design for the site to be self-generative of water and energy as well as produce food.

KPA Architects won Third Place Commendation – Manna Gum Award which is a great achievement for the firm.
