Kwinana Marketplace

The original Kwinana Hub Shopping Centre was built in the early 1970’s and extended in the 1980’s.

Approximately 20 years on, it had become a dated and disconnected shopping centre in need of major redevelopment. KPA worked on this project for several different clients for approximately 10 years prior the Kwinana Marketplace Redevelopment commencement proper, including extensive master planning exercises.

The age and layout of the old shopping centre added to the complexity of a project of this size and nature. There were massive additions, alterations and services upgrades involved in the project, in addition to new works including a BIG W Discount Department Store, specialty shops, malls, food court, main street shops and a Dan Murphy’s store. The existing building has been refurbished to tie in with the new extensions; including modern new facades, contemporary interior finishes, new entries, amenities, car parking and landscaping.

The centre was substantially open and trading in November 2012 and at that point it was sold to new owners, Shopping Centres Australasia Property Group. In June 2013, Fabcot’s Kwinana Marketplace Redevelopment was honoured with the City of Kwinana’s ‘City Award’, being recognised as a key component in the revitalisation of the Kwinana Town Centre.
